COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER - PART 2 - SKINCARE

COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER - PART 2 - SKINCARE

In this blog post I am going to be talking about skin care. During the summer months I like to moisturize more often, although I don't really sit in the Sun the humidity in the air can dry out my skin. So moisturizing is really important for me, especially my hands they are get quite dry, I also like to moisturize my Knees and Elbows too.
But the most important part of skin care during summer is protecting you skin, using a high SPF with UVA and UVB protection is something I always look for in a Sun Cream. I try to avoid sitting in the Sun too, I have sensitive skin so I burn really easily, but I also know that its not good for the Skin so I try to avoid sitting sitting in the Sun.

My Summer Skincare Essentials:

SUN CREAM - With an UVA and UVB Protection - SPF 30, 50 or 50+

SUNGLASSES  - Your Eyes are so important, so protecting them is too. I have very sensitive eyes as I have a number of different eye conditions so protecting your eyesight is something I've always tried to do. If I go outside during the Summer Sunglasses are an essential for me.

MOISTURIZING LIP BALM - One with SPF so that it protects and hydrates your lips

MOISTURIZER - Garnier Seven Day Moisturizer - I like the Mango scent

WATER - Drinking water helps to hydrate the skin a bit more - I don't drink enough water so this is something I need to do as the temperature increases. But during Summer I will keep a bottle in my bag.

AFTER SUN? - I am allergic to After Sun but I do like the Banana Boat Soothing Aloe After Sun Spry Gel its the only one I can use.

SUN HAT - To protect your head and hair from the heat

LIGHT BREATHABLE CLOTHING - A Light colour breathable T-shirt that keeps you cool but covers your shoulders - this is where my skin burns if I am out in the sun so I like to keep my shoulders and the back of my neck covered. I like wearing looser material clothing as they keep you cooler and allow your skin to breathe more.

I don't tan but if I did I would always use a gradual tanner my favourite is the Garnier Summer Body tan in light, its good because you can build up a tan gradually so you can choose how tanned you would like to be. They have three different shades to choose from. Its the safest way to get a tan and I love the smell too!

I also try to avoid sitting in the Sun between 11 am and 3 pm as the Sun it very hot during these times.. I would always wear Sun Cream during these times. Re-applying Sun Cream is also something I like to do every two to three hours. I like to apply Sun Cream about 15-30 mins before I go outside then re-apply it again when I'm outside.

Hope you liked this post :)

FINDING NEW PRODUCTS IN MY COLLECTION

FINDING NEW PRODUCTS IN MY COLLECTION

Its always exciting when you find something you haven't used in your make up collection, as its always nice to try out new products. Although, having said that I am one of those people that only likes a set amount of products open at one time. But since writing my blog I have wanted to try out new products so that I can review them for my readers. I think this has helped me feel more comfortable with opening more than one Eye Shadow or more than one Foundation. I now know its ok for me to open more than one product, I do use up the products that I have but I usually stick to the same things.  But sometimes its nice to change it up a bit - especially since we are changing into summer. So what I did this morning is shop my collection of a few new products I wanted to try, so that I could do more make up looks with them and review them if I thought they were good.

Here are the products that I found...

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour - Permanent Taupe

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour - Pink Gold

Model Co Eye Shadow Duo - Bronzed Goddess

Soap and Glory SUPERCAT Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen

These are the products that I found, I can't wait to try them out!

Have you tried any of these?

Wedding Magazines, TV and Film Reviews

Wedding Magazines, Film and TV Reviews?

In today's post I just wanted to tell you what I've been doing recently, the first is looking through Wedding Magazines my Sister is getting married which is really exciting, so I asked her if I could borrow some of the Magazines she has to look through - they often have great make up and accessories in them so I wanted to have a quick look and do some research on that. I also found the Magazines gave me some good ideas of decorating, they have really cute ideas in using things like bunting and different table decorations which is great for parties. I also thought that they had great ideas that I could use for setting up my blog posts (using them in the photographs I take) for example using some pretty fabrics or decorations etc, in order to make the photographs I take stand out. But that for future posts (I'm looking forward to that) a lot!

The next part of this blog post is all about Film, Television and Media. I just wanted to ask if anyone was interested in reading Film, TV or Music reviews? I studied Media at University so I love watching both Film and Television and wondered if you would like me to talk about any of these on my blog. If there are any Films you would like me to review I am happy to do that or if you would like me two do lists of my top films for different genres etc, just let me know in the comments below and I would be happy to do that :)

Hope you liked this post :)

AFFORDABLE STORAGE SOLUTIONS - MAKEUP, JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES

AFFORDABLE STORAGE SOLUTIONS - MAKEUP, JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES

In this blog post I thought I would share with you some of my newest solutions to storing and organising Jewellery, Makeup and Accessories. All of the products I found were in Sainsbury's Supermarket but I'm sure that there will me similar types of organisers in other supermarkets or craft stores. I just found these when looking around the Home Ware department, I wasn't even looking to buy anything new but I thought these made great a great storage solution and they organise everything well to. The lids on all three boxes are partly clear so that it means you can easily find what you are looking for. I have used three boxes all for different reasons - One for Jewellery (my favourite one!) - One to divide up my make up  and I use the final box to store receipts, this way I know everything is all in one place.
Here are some of the storage solutions that I found...

This is my favorite box that I bought, it is made from wood and has a glass lid, its painted in a muted grey colour which means that it works well in any room. All of the boxes I chose are the same they are just different sizes and contain different dividers. This box had small dividers inside (these can't be moved), they are quite small so you can only fit small necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings in here. But I like how its divided up and the clear lid means you can see what's where before you even open the box, you can also pull the draw out completely so that you can get to everything easily. All of the products were under £10 I think so they were really affordable too.

In this next box I store make up. The box is again divided up, this time into three different sections. i use these sections to diving up eye makeup, face make up and lip products. Its not as organised as I would have liked but it works at the moment. This lid opens from the top so you can't really put that much on the top of it.

This is the smallest of all three boxes, again it is made in all the same ways, it has a glass lid and is made from wood that is painted in a muted grey. However, this box does not contain any dividers so I used this for receipts and smaller accessories.

I do like all of these but I wish the lid was plastic instead of glass, just because its a bit safer. What do you think to these ideas? Do you have any good storage/organisational tips for storing make up or accessories?

Hope you enjoyed this post :)

CURRENT DRUGSTORE FAVOURITES #1

CURRENT DRUGSTORE FAVOURITES #1 - SKINCARE AND MAKE UP

In this post I just wanted to share with you some of my favourite drugstore products of the moment. There are a few products that I keep going back to when applying my make up or when washing my face. I only included one skincare product in this post but there are lots of different ones that I want to try out too. I also included a couple of my most worn make up products, these products range from Foundation to Highlighter and Lipstick, they are all pretty neutral shades so you can wear them at any time and since they are from the drugstore they are more affordable too.

Nude Lipsticks are always something I love to wear, I've always got one in my collection and lately this has been my favourite - Rimmel London's Notting Hill Nude. It's a really natural looking colour that adds moisture to your lips and doesn't dry them out which means its great for all seasons!

Neutral Eye Shadows are also always in my collection and but this is the one I wear most often - Natural Collection Eye Shadow - Asteroid. Well the name alone makes me love it, but the Eye Shadow itself is also great as it is a lovely, you can do one single sweep over the eye lids for an 'everyday' look or add a bit more to create a subtle smoky eye.

Next up is my most worn founation - Rimmel Match Perfection. I wear this in one of the lightest shades as I have quite a light skin tone. But these foundations do have quite yellow undertones so I would always go and swatch them or see them in person first. My skin does have yellow undertones so this works for my skin, it also blends really well and gives a medium coverage.

The last make up product is the - MeMeMe Highlighter, I love this! It adds a healthy glow to the skin and doesn't cost too much. I would love to try more High Lighters so if you can recommend any that would be lovely!

The last product is skincare - Neutrogena 2 in 1 Wash and Mask - I use this on a really regular basis as it removes makeup residue left on the skin and because it is a 2 in 1 product it saves space!  I do love face masks so this added into a product is also really efficient. It does have a cooling effect on the skin so you can feel it cleaning, but I don't leave this on for too long as it dries pretty quickly. Its a face wash that I have used for a couple of years so I like it quite a bit.

Hope you liked this post :)

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE FASHION STYLES - MY POLYVORE INSPIRATION BOARDS #1

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE FASHION STYLES - MY POLYVORE INSPIRATION BOARDS #1

One of my favourite ways to experiment with new fashion styles is to create a board on Polyvore - I can see all of the new products/clothes/accessories etc all in one place, here are some of the style inspiration boards I have made...
Cool and Casual - This board is based around comfy clothing that is also really fashionable. Jeans a t-shirt, comfy boots and a warm cardigan are some of my style staples - with the addition of minimal accessories this creates an effortlessly stylish look.

Parisian Chic - This was one of the first boards I made on Polyvore, I love all things French so I was really excited when I created this board. I included everything I love from gold accessories and Chanel makeup.

Rockin' it up - I love wearing a printed t-shirt, dark jeans, black boots and a subtle smoky eye so I thought this board presented those elements really well.
Boho - A great summer style - relaxed fit jeans, floral tops and natural makeup were my inspiration for this look.

Something sweet - Pink, floral, pastel and cupcakes = Everything you need to create a sweet look!

Hope you liked this Post :)

Which style is your favourite?

Lips and Cheeks and Beautiful Trees...

Lips and Cheeks and Beautiful Trees...

This is and probably does sound like a rather random blog post, but I thought I would share some of my favourite parts of today with you.

Today I've been loving lip and cheek products - here are a few of the ones I'm liking the most...

17 Lip Crayon - This doesn't have a name on it but it is a lovely bright orange/pink colour. It looks great for spring and summer. I got this as part of a set during the holiday season so I'm not sure if they still make it but I'm sure that other brands will make something similar to this.

The next product is Natural Collections Pink Cloud Blush - This just gives a natural flush of colour to the cheeks and is a product that is always in my makeup collection as it works for all seasons.

The third product is Model Co Lip and Cheek stain - I love this product as a lip stain in the winter as it is a dark plum colour. But for this season I'm enjoying using this as a blusher, but because it is a stain you have to blend the product quite quickly so that it looks more natural. But you do have to wash your hands after using this product (as I learned after blending it in) as it does stain them. But the stain does last for a long time and smells good too!

And finally Revlon Lip Crayons are all lovely but this orange shade is the one I love right now. This Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint I have the shade - Sunkissed Cherry

During the morning I also took some photographs so thought I would include them in this post too :)

I don't know why but I really wanted to see what the trees looked liked from this angle

Lovely day today - only a few clouds in the sky <3

COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER - PART 1 - HAIR CARE

COUNTDOWN TO SUMMER - PART 1 - HAIR CARE

This is the first of in a series of new blog posts I will be doing every Friday for the next couple of weeks, I will be talking about different areas each week and this week its all about summer hair care. I thought I would just tell you about some of my favourite products and some of the products that I like to use. I use these products all year round but some of them work even better during the summer months.

These are a few of the products that I like to use during the summer, there is everything from dry shampoo's to conditioning hair masks and a lovely scented spray that adds texture to those loose beach waves. (I haven't seen the texture spray for years but there are lots of similar products out there). I created a board on Polyvore to show you some of my favourites!

During the summer months it is really important to condition your hair because the sun can dry it out, using a regular conditioner every few days is good as it keeps the hair looking soft and shiny. But if you can also use a deep conditioning mask once or twice a week. I usually use them once a week because I have quite oily hair. One of my favourite deep conditioning masks is the Macadamia Deep Conditioning Mask. It smells really clean and fresh and conditions really well leaving your hair feeling soft and smooth and well hydrated.

Another product I like for the Summer months are dry shampoo's, I really like the Batiste Dry Shampoo's because they are really affordable and keep your hair smelling fresh all day, they also help to add volume to your hair, I always brush through my hair after using them as this works the product into the hair.

A texture spray is also a good idea for summer, they add movement to the hair and leaving it looking more 'lived in' creating a relaxed beach look. Texture spray looks great when it is added to naturally wavy hair I think it works really well. I have really straight hair so adding a texture spray adds more volume and creates a subtle movement throughout the hair. I really like trying out new texture spray as they all work differently and all create a unique style which I love!

QUICK HAIR CARE TIPS!

  • I try to avoid heat styling throughout the summer as the humidity and heat from the sun can dry out your hair but if you you do like to use heat styling products a good heat protectant will work at keeping your hair healthier. I like the Tresemme Heat Defence Spray, its lightly fragranced so it smells fresh and also adds shine to the hair

  • Using a de-tangling product can also help during the summer, I don't currently one one but I'm looking forward to trying out out this summer

  • I don't like to sit outside in the sun but when I know I will be outside a sun hat can protect your hair - a light breathable material is something I would look for so you don't get too warm!

  • Leave in conditioners can also be helpful as they moisturise your hair and help to keep it looking hydrated - maybe have a spa/pamper day (that's always  a good idea)!

Skincare Wishlist Spring/Summer 2014...

Countdown to Summer - Part 1 - Hair care

Disney Princess Tea Party, Hello Kitty and Cute Cattle

Disney Princess Tea Party, Hello Kitty and Cute Cattle

I had a lovely day today so I just wanted to share some of the highlights from my day. I had a lovely tea party with my sister and friends. The dining room was beautifully decorated in all things Disney Princess. The tablecloth was pink and the plates and cups all had Disney Princesses on them and my favourite part was the candy striped paper straws, they looked so cute!

For food I had lovely toasted sandwiches, sweet snacks and pink lemonade <3

There was also Hello Kitty Candy <3

I thought I'd also share a photo I took during the morning, I went for a walk and whilst out and about saw these really cute Cattle, I'm not sure what breed they are but thought they looked lovely. Cows are my favourite animal so I always love seeing them wherever I am.

Products I've Used Up #1, Lovely Scenery and Tasty Ramen

Products I've Used Up #1, Lovely Scenery, Tasty Ramen

In today's blog post I will be talking about a few different things. The first, products I've used up. I've not include everything in this there as still some other products I have used up but the two products in this post are my favourites, so I really wanted to share them.

Trevor Sorbie Beautifully Straightened Protect, Flatten and Shine Spray - This product works really well its adds shine to your hair and smells clean and fresh, like you've just washed it. I think it works well and the packaging is pink, which I love.

The next product I have used up is the Lush Twilight shower gel - I love this so much! It smells amazing and I love using it, I think its a limited edition product so they only sell it at certain times of the year. Its such a lovely product, it smells great, the packaging is really nice too because you can see all of the product. Its a lavender scented shower gel but also smells really natural, I love anything lavender so this was perfect.

For the second part of my blog post I just wanted to share some pictures that I took, I went for a walk yesterday and thought the scenery looked really nice.

And finally I had some lovely Ramen and Ciabatta bread  at dinner time

 Hope you like this post

Work, Orange Lipstick, Pretty In Pink and Messy Hair

Work, Orange Lipstick, Pretty In Pink and Messy Hair

Yesterday I didn't do to much, just some work. But I was on Twitter for most of the day but I thought I'd share with you some of the other things I did...

During the morning I typed up a blog post, then after getting ready for the day I started to do some work, I typed up a few notes and listened to some music. I did that for a few hours and then decided to style my hair. I'd just seen a picture of Cara Delevingne with the cutest top knot, her hair looked so nice I really wanted to re-create it. My hair isn't really that long and I do have some shorter layers so I had to use some little bobby-pins to keep it looking neater at the back of my head and because my hair isn't really that long I had a small top knot, it was quite messy too but I liked that because I wasn't going out and it looked like I hadn't really spent much time on it so its a hairstyle I could wear on a casual day.  I included a picture here but it doesn't really show you the top but it does show you my new favourite lip colour - Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balm in Mischeivious.  Its a bright orange colour (its much brighter in real life than on the picture) that would be great for summer. I love all orange lip products - I think I would buy every orange lipstick if I could.

After quite a busy morning I decided to watch a film in the afternoon so I watch one of my favouite 80s films - Pretty In Pink (1986), its such a great film. Its directed by John Hughes who has directed so many great 80's classics including... Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), The Breakfast Club (1985) and Sixteen Candles (1984). All of these films are really good, I love 80's films so these are some of my favourites to watch.

What are some of your favourite 80's films?

Catch Up, Beauty Products and Future Blog Posts...

Catch up, Beauty Products and Future Blog Posts...

In this blog post I just wanted to update you all on what I've been doing, what makeup I've been wearing and talk about future blog posts

Recently I've been doing work for University so I haven't been able to upload posts as much as I would have liked to, but the good news is because its nearly summer time now I will be able to write lots more posts, which I'm really happy about. I really do enjoy writing this blog so if you have any products you want me to review, or want me to do a look book style post I would really like to do that. I also wanted to say that I will be doing a new feature on my blog every Friday for the next 4 to 6 weeks (starting from this Friday), its going to be a countdown to summer post, so I will be writing about all sorts of different topics, from summer makeup trends to hair care products and lots more!

I've been doing lots of reading and typing over the last few weeks so I've been really busy but I'm really happy that I've only got one University project left to do, so that I can spend more time writing this blog. Writing my dissertation has been good though as I've learned a lot about my chosen topic but its nice to see that its summer again.

Since I've been mostly indoors reading and writing, I've not been wearing much makeup, just a little BB Cream and a neutral Lipstick and Mascara. I've also been loving little dainty necklaces, they are so cute and since I wear a lot of clothes that don't have to many logo's on them, they really help put an outfit together.

But I have been looking for some statement necklaces, I don't really have that many and I'm always trying to find some, so if you can recommend anywhere that has some that would be lovely!

If you like you can follow this blog and/or follow me on Twitter so that you can find out when my next post will be... @laureninparis

Best wishes :)
